Manufacturer: Wyeth Ayerst Pharmaceuticals.
Content: Conjugated estrogens, medroxyprogesterone acetate.

Description: Each pack of Prempro 2.5/Prempro 5 contains tablets of combined conjugated estrogens (Premarin) 0.625 mg and medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA) 2.5 or 5 mg as a fixed combination for oral administration.

Information: Prempro is a combination of estrogen and progestin combined into one pill. It is used primarily to treat women suffering from symptoms of menopause including: hot flashes, vaginal dryness, night sweats and osteoporosis. The estrogen component of Prempro is identical to that used in Premarin another popular Hormone Replacement Therapy drug by Wyeth and medroxyprogesterone (progestin) that is in Provera manufactured by Pharmacia.

Cycle: Prempro Cycle 5 consists of 14 maroon tablets containing conjugated estrogens (Premarin) 0.625 mg and 14 blue tablets of conjugated estrogens 0.625 mg and medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA) 5 mg for oral administration.

Premarin contains a mixture of estrogens, obtained exclusively from natural sources. It contains the sodium salts of water-soluble sulfate esters of estrone, equilin and 17a-dihydroequilin, together with smaller amounts of 17a-estradiol, equilenin, 17a-dihydroequilenin, 17b-dihydroequilin, 17b-dihydroequilenin, 17b-estradiol and (delta)8,9-dehydroestrone.

Medroxyprogesterone acetate is derived from progesterone. It is a white to off-white, odorless, crystalline powder, stable in air, melting between 200?C and 210?C. It is freely soluble in chloroform, soluble in acetone and dioxane, sparingly soluble in alcohol and methanol, slightly soluble in ether, and insoluble in water.
